Back Pain, Colds, & Clarity

Today was supposed to be the third day of our screen time fast, but our bodies had other plans. I woke up with a sore back and a sore throat, and Kender woke up feeling pretty miserable too. Ryan also has a cold, but he’s super tough and never complains so I forget he’s even sick.

So we lasted until about noon, and then Kender and I were really tired so I caved. We ended up having a full blown sickie screen day. Two movies and two hours of video games.

Watching “Rumble” on Paramount+

This screen time fast was a lot shorter than I intended… I planned on going all the way until Saturday, and being super mom and deep cleaning the whole house this week. But apparently that wasn’t meant to be. Even thought things got a bit derailed, I still feel like I got the clarity I needed.

I learned that I am capable of focusing my attention, even with the kids being loud all around me. I was reminded that prayer isn’t optional for me. It’s necessary if I want to live life to my fullest potential. I learned that I can do yoga with the kids in the room - I just have to be smart and keep the practice simple. I was reminded of how blessed I am to have such awesome kids. I really enjoyed spending two full days focused 100% on them.

I love doing these screen time fasts regularly. I think it really helps us (especially me) detox and get refocused on the things that matter most.
